Kitchen - Dining

A unique kitchen, as it is commonly open to the adjacent dining room, but can be visually isolated for catered events. The towers flanking the far island hide folding panels on the inside faces that bisect the countertop when deployed, as well as floor to ceiling bi-fold doors on the outside faces that provide seclusion while maintaining access. When retracted into the towers, the doors appear to simply be recessed column panels. While the cabinetry and trim are all stained, finely grained mahogany, the conical shaped ceiling above the breakfast bar and the dining area ceiling are common knotty pine that pre-existed the remodel, however stained a dark chocolate brown. After sandblasting the pine to eliminate the stain, we liked the contrast between the two woods–in both color and texture–so we simply finished the pine with a clear sealer.
