Guest Bathroom, San Jose, CA

This guest bathroom was part of a total home renovation for my clients. The old guest bathroom suffered from a very 90s facelift with heavy tan granite counters, heavy tan cabinetry and tan walls. My vision for this room was something streamlined but organic with a Zen influence. During construction, we removed a large, awkward tub and put skylights over the vanity and in the new shower. The floor and shower enclosure are tiled in a weathered blue-grey porcelain that looks like patinaed metal. A glass mosaic strip of blue, grey green, copper and bronze was placed as an accent in the shower and in a “rug” on the floor. A double sconce with a gentle, organic curve graces the mirror and doubles the light. The warm cherry tones of the wood on the custom vanity grounds the space while the simple brushed steel of the hardware and faucets lends a Zen feeling.
