We had a new mantle made and installed to be the same length as the original. It allows the fireplace to still be centered in the room by adding a writing desk on the left side where wood storage used to be. (the fireplace is now a gas fireplace). A television will be installed over the fireplace to the right and art installed on the left side which will bring interest and really anchor the space.
