Close-up of floor-to-ceiling fireplace surround with built-in shelf for artwork & slate-clad mantel. The fireplace is the focal point in this cozy family room that opens directly into the casual dining area & kitchen. Stainless steel framed fireplace screen replaces the dated, bronze one, & hearth displays vases that compliment the colors in the slate & the (off-camera) walls in pale teal. The end result has met with 'oohs and ahhs'.
