Crocus House

Creating a Second Act for a North Oaks, Minnesota Home

In 2012 I was invited by a client to walk through a home they were considering to purchase and share some design ideas for what might be done to the property. Aspects of the property were in a distressed condition and the home was being offered as a short sale. The house needed a lot of work but sat on one of the most beautiful lots in our community, overlooking a small lake and wetland at the end of a private cul-de-sac. The home was originally designed by a respected local architect, Eldon Morrison (White Bear, Minnesota) and built in 1976.

I visit the house with a local contractor and share some ideas on how to bring new life to the home. The client wanted us to provide assurance that the home could be updated in a way that met their lifestyle and design sensibility.

Working with Dullum Construction and the homeowner, we updated the entire main living area, created a new kitchen, master bath, guest bath and exterior finish among other design details. You might say we gave the house a "second act" of its own.
