Classic/Contemporary Apartment in an English Stately Home

This beautiful apartment is part of an English Country House in rural Hertfordshire. The house, Wormleybury Manor, was built by Robert Mylne in 1767-69, and embellished by Robert Adam in 1777-79. The drawing room has painted roundels by Angelica Kauffman. This apartment is set within the Portico, and has been decorated in classic/contemporary style, layering traditional silks and crushed velvets with modern artworks and oriental cabinetry. The focal point of the room is the haunting artwork above the mantlepiece, and the windows are framed by elegant taupe silk curtains in James Hare Orissa Silk. To add further texture, the sofa is covered in oyster crushed silk, and the armchairs are covered in fine linen style fabric. The bespoke glass and black lacquer coffee table creates a strong outline amongst the neutral colours. Photo Credit - Steve Russell Studios
