BDAA National Design Awards 2017 - Dual occupancy (up to 2 storeys)
The design comprised of a front/back dual occupancy with a driveway along the eastern boundary to provide separation from the neighbouring development and to maximise sunlight access/natural ventilation. While the apartments are unique in layout, both include main living spaces on the first floor with high ceilings to maximise distant water views, which are adjacent to northen decks with operable vergola to increase natural light. Louvred screening is included to the front apartment to provide privacy to the busy road. The first floor also includes a powder room, main bedroom, ensuite and robe. The ground floor consists of entry, bathroom, 3 bedrooms, media room as well as service areas. Double garages located centrally allow for internal access. Both apartments face north on the site creating privacy to both the front and rear dwellings, with physical separation at first floor giving the impression they are two separate detached homes.
