Small Spaces
Use lines to your advantage. Another trick to consider is the use of lines in a space. Vertical lines on the walls make the space feel taller, while strong horizontal bands make it feel wider. Diagonal lines on the floor make the space feel wider, and board lines running the length of the room make it feel longer.
2. Paint cabinets the same color as the walls. Limiting the cabinetry and the wall color to a single hue erases visual boundaries that might stop the eye. The conventional school of thought is that pale colors will reflect light and make the space feel bigger, and that’s certainly a safe approach. But don’t be afraid to go dark, either. Deep tones such as black, navy, charcoal and chocolate recede visually and create the impression that the walls are farther back than they really are.
How to Make Your Kitchen Feel Larger 1. Replace solid cabinet doors with glass ones. Glass fronts lighten the look of cabinetry and allow the eye to travel through to the back, which helps the kitchen seem more expansive. Just don’t clutter the interiors with bric-a-brac — you’ll defeat the purpose.
Put a little island / cart in the middle, and yes. Love that the microwave is NOT over the range. No glass-fronts near the grease-maker.
Bookshelves! Nicely arranged for real readers, not sorted by color to suit some designer's eye.
Use a half-wall or 3/4 wall to separate "office" space from "kitchen" space & "laundry / boot-room" space
"broken plan" ie finding ways to break up a larger space functionally without closing off an open plan. Half wall here works well to divide living / kitchen spaces.
efficient boot / laundry room. Stackables would save footprint too. Lets have this right off the kitchen, please, only enough separation for grease / odor managment.
a la Julia.
Every inch counts!
I am a HUGE fan of niches. I like this one, as both an accent and practical storage. Want a real range hood too.
A hutch with a PULL OUT SHELF for a bar - just a bit of extra counter space.
minimalist with curves. Much better than all those pointy squares and sharp edges.
angled shelves? maybe
I could see this as a guest-room / office studio
I just love this room - simple, unadorned, but pretty, serene & relaxing.
not just the small, and functional movable but pretty fond of the color scheme also
Falling in love.
again - make it feel wider with horizontal tile on the floor, and coordinating band in the shower. Would like to see a similar inset on the shower curtain.
nice little visual trick - accentuate the biggest dimension.
Splendid use of otherwise wasted space.

What do I own that's magnetic besides my knives??!!??
