UPPER MASTER: This one looks a lot like the one I already have framed upstairs. A thought is to simply re-do the surround with white carrara marble like this, get a nicer wood mantle that suits the wainscoting I want, and trim the TV niche. As for the fireplace, either upgrade the gas insert (rework the venting so that the noise is eliminated), or just leave it sealed. Cosmetic improvement and noise elimination are higher priorities.
This could work as well, especially the art space top the mantle, and the marble around the hearth.
Like how the arch element is echoed in this fireplace design. Note how it flows toward the vaulted ceiling.
Lower Master: Could put in something more modern like this into the millwork.
Something generally like this I suppose for the formal living room. A transitional look, not too fancy, but has some classic lines.
