THese shelf would work if we want a modern feel.
Go long wise against the grain or "flow of the room"

Add a shelf, paint it the color of the wall, and put it behind a sectional.. all the way in one corner
Could we make the lving room a split between a 'formal' dining room and a living room?
don't worry about traffic flow, build it comfy.
Add shelves to the whole wall.
bunch everything towards the wall and leave the walkway by the window.
En large area as if the room was small. spread everything out, and make the accessories busy.
Kind of ignore the stairs and work the room as if those weren't there
bookshelf behind couch to split a room!
