Belly Baskets

This is great functional basket with a difference. Hand-woven from sea grass in a round design using traditional weaving techniques, it is strong, durable and an attractive environmentally solution to plastic bags. Great for around the house, off to the beach or heading to the markets. Belly basket is collapsible for quick and easy storage.

Made in the Ninh Binh Province in Vietnam. Sea grass grows in fields close to the shore where it is a natural renewable resource and is watered with the tide coming in each day. It takes nearly six months for the sea grass to grow to around three metres high, then it is ready to be cut and harvested. After drying in the sunshine and fresh air it is hand dyed with natural dyes and woven into hard wearing, beautiful and useful baskets.
