you could go with a wood tile like this in gray for the kids rooms or the laundry. then you use a darker gray cab and it won't contrast with other wood floors. I like this for laundry.

I like this coffee type color better. warmer and would offset the slight brown in the slabs and we could do almost any color cabs.
