So similar! Anna - Notice how the doorway arches and cooking alcove arches are the same? That is why this works. Also see how the doorways are actually very deep and substantial. Yours would not be like this, so this is why I recommend we stick with the post and beam doorway.

Dimitri thinks it's better option for him , to have a hidden inset behind the arch. Friend has her hanging 44 inches high over the isle top and it works great. Ours, 54 wide, highest CFM, should work. Dimitri is not excited about low hanging hood. Or any visible hood

tiled up, hidden vent Anna - the ONE thing to know about this design is that the hood is much higher than the typical 30-36" above the cooktop. IT is OK to put a taller hood like this, but know they don't work as well. But heck...with all that tile, you are OK!!! This would be very easy to do!
