Reply to: The rug is an overall Herati pattern common in many Persian rugs: Tabriz, Bidjar (Senneh), Hamadan. You won't find a worn out rug like this through a dealer (as a rule); but many similar pieces in good repair exist. If you want the nearly threadbare look, search the online auctions. Just want to add, that despite decades of service (likely in other venues by other owners) that rug still has beauty and utility permitting use here in a significant space. Judging from its condition, the rug deserved more respect over the years; but we can all appreciate that it does deserve respect; and seems to be getting a good bit of it in its new home.
