Almost exactly what we want to do, except looking back towards the entry we would not do the dark color. We'd do the dark color on the inside, then the arch, then the rest of the apartment would be white.

Could potentially do something like this for the lantern on the brick wall. We'd cut the wood post in half vertically, hollow out the middle (to allow for the light cord to run up inside of it hidden from sight), and hang the lantern off of it.

The archway is similar to the arch we'd like to do in the "mudroom".

Sliding paned glass doors, but with clear glass instead of fogged. MB: why not do fogged glass? On one hand, it lets in all the light always but still feels like an actual room. On the other hand, will it end up looking like our kitchen cabinets in Leonard st where you see obscure objects behind the glass?
