Both gas range and induction? Interesting.... 4. Induction cooktops. Induction cooking has been popular in Europe for many years, unlike here in the United States, where cooking with natural gas is preferred. With induction cooking, the energy is generated by a metal coil beneath the surface of the glass cooktop. When turned on, the coil produces an electromagnetic current only when it comes in contact with magnetic cookware. This current heats the bottom of the magnetic pan and cooks the food it contains. Induction is safe — the cooktop is cool to the touch when the cookware is removed. It’s also fast. Water boils in under two minutes. One way to introduce induction cooking into your kitchen is to add a burner or two. This kitchen has a gas range plus a small induction cooktop in the island.
Great idea to organize baking supplies and equipment together. Only issue is most materials are kept in freezer. Placing a baking station at the end of an island is a popular choice. A cabinet like the one at this station can hold all the necessary equipment.
Double doors hide fridge, pantry and clean up sink. Pantry. The refrigerator, small appliances and a second sink are in the pantry, inside the double doors. While some might complain about the extra steps to this storage area, there is an advantage to this placement: If anything is going to make a kitchen look really “kitchen-y,” it’s a large refrigerator and countertops filled with small appliances. These doors keep those things out of sight.Takeaways:Keep what works.Continue colors and textures to create a nice flow between rooms within an open floor plan.Symmetry is a smart choice for an accent wall that wows.If you’re going to make a splurge for your kitchen refresh, a special tile is a good candidate.Tell us: Have you gone all out on a backsplash in your kitchen? This sort of niche can be left uncovered for modern-style open shelving or given its own set of doors like a typical cabinet to suit any style of decor.

Raise cabinets to 20” (vs 18”). 13. Hidden range hoods. A statement range hood can make an ideal focal point in a kitchen. But in more compact spaces, the last thing you may want is another bulky appliance. Instead, consider hiding a hood behind some elegant cabinetry, as was done in this Australian kitchen. Coupled with under-cabinet outlets, the hidden appliance allows the small amount of backsplash to appear large, streamlined and elegant.See more on hidden range hoods

If no walk in pantry... 5. High cabinets. There really seems to be no end to the kitchen upgrades available, but extra cabinetry is always high on the wish list. If seamless, matching cabinets is the look you are after, then adding high cabinetry — which is great for storing pantry items — through your builder will ensure matching finish and quality. This photo shows a whole wall of them, but one or two should do the trick.
