A classic conservatory.The proper Victorian conservatory was home to all sorts of artifacts and natural curiosities as well as plants: A collection of found shells or the delicate skeleton of some unfortunate animal found frozen on a winter’s day - all cleaned and assembled for the edification of viewers. The Victorians may have been prudes by our standards, but squeamish they were not. So take this as an opportunity to show off your own found treasures in cabinets, under glass domes or among the plantings.
Dream a little.Don’t forget the element of fantasy. This is, after all, your sanctuary from the harsh realities of cold winter commutes or endless days of freezing rain. If wicker and rattan creates an island utopia for you, or if you dream of summer in Provence, this would be the room for you to indulge in that vision. Just remember that it will always be a work in progress - no garden is ever truly finished.
