Fireplace

Looking for something Transitional, neither fully contemp nor trad. I’ve put stars beside the ones that have the most appeal for one reason or another. In each photo, there is something for the FP that I admired. Not interested in having stone to ceiling; we want wall space for art.

Photo

this is almost our FP!

Q

Photo

attractive w/dark background especially that blue connecting to the fp tiles. for our display, that dark might not work well.

Q

Photo

what about porcelain strips that look like stone? this has a real stone mantle, and in fact I think the strips are travertine.

Q

Photo

FP is pulled forward in rm, as Steve once suggested....not bad. Also, nice linen-looking drapes on a dark rod.

Q

Photo

non symetrical niches

Q

Photo

***nice fp! simple frame w/mantle implied

Q

Photo

minimalist fp / similar to what we may be doing with slate, w/some variations. We also will have cabinets serving a different purpose.

Q

Photo

bluestone - these are 4" thick, but you must be able to get thinner.... www. pennsylvaniabluestone.net

Q

Photo

grey slate to mantle

Q

Photo

Here I'm looking at a solid chunkier piece of wood for the mantle alone...w/o upper stone.

Q

Photo

porcelain tile, Design Industry Raw Mix in 10"x60"....beautiful!

Q

Photo

tile fp?

Q

Photo

12 x 32" tiles

Q

Photo

fp - large scale tile

Q

Photo

slate tiles, 12 x 12....or we could go 16, and cut the top and bottom ones

Q

Photo

fp - looks great - vein cut travertine, 12 x 36

Q

Photo

stacked tile FP, maybe porcelain

Q

Photo

*fp design is an updated classic. we have the raised opening tho and elongated firebox

Q

Photo

gorgeous space. interesting use of space below FP (could be a big dust collector)

Q

Photo

not wild for FP itself, nice in this house, but find drawers below an interesting idea

Q

Photo

storage under the hearth...great use of space; baskets could be dust collectors

Q

Photo

this is very formal for our house, but nice feature wall with cabinetry around fireplace

Q

Photo

nice fireplace, no paneling on walls for us

Q

Photo

I like this FP for it's clean simplicity. It has both a mantle and hearth. It might be a little too modern and chilly for us, especially concrete.

Q

Photo

ledge, or less deep FP hearth than current. may take too much space in our room.

Q

Photo

interesting use of slate? and granite. see why they did the corner, tho not what I'd wish

Q

Photo

art wall display, could go around tv or fp. possibly a little busy.

Q

Photo

nice simple FP, somewhat transitional. Painted wood? Some stone would be nicer.

Q

Photo

nice built-ins for around FP, or anywhere! we don't need glass tho....think we can light wood shelves from the front

Q

Photo

*lighting in shelving, LED tape lighting located behind the vertical elements. -sort of like FP, effect is a little monolithic. wood is warmer, tho I do appreciate stone!

Q

Photo

*shelves and cabinets beside FP....not the FP treatment, tho it is effective.

Q

Photo

*not a bad design for LW, though our cathedral goes the other way. Perhaps a little too white? I'd like large niches or more shelves on sides.

Q

Photo

**spectacular room....in Minnesota....glass! -Fireplace design is very beautiful tho, if we want an arts & crafts look......

Q

Photo

Better stone FP. no stone to ceiling for us..... -like stacked pyramid effect of the stuff on it as well.

Q

Photo

**Fireplace organization with side cabinets? maybe stepped? - few niches on each side, horizontally...or glass shelves...

Q

Photo

**another interesting more contemp FP for LW? high stone OK cause it's light...don't think we need stone to ceiling tho.

Q

Photo

**could picture this with bookcases beside it also. stones and proportions nice.

Q

Photo

*another type of FP that might be nice for LW. elegant more traditional. might look small w/o mirror

Q

Photo

attractive FP arrangement. bit too traditional.....windows make it so nice. no TV. -cabinet section too tall for us, fits here.

Q

Photo

stone, wood, lighting. no stone to ceiling for us, no arches

Q

Photo

**quite nice, cabinets, stone & shelving configuration, LW? 2 spot lights on stone...odd. no stone to ceiling ours

Q

Photo

**nice design? too much stone -configuration and addition of a mantle are what's best. a lot of stone, drywall is OK, cleaner visually & cheaper.

Q

Photo

*nice use of stone & cabinetry....lower LW's mantle? or not.

Q

Photo

**I like this, but not dark wood shelves for us. -It's the configuration that I find interesting. Ours might be more horizontal...or not.

Q

Photo

*rather beautiful...... Slabs of stone, cabinets below, and glass shelves. -bit contemp for our house, want a mantle; maybe less stone? Our FP is a similar shape and position.

Q

Photo

**FP wall only. reminds me of Brook, with display areas to sides. bit traditional. not the fabrics or tv

Q

Photo

more contemp stone FP for LW? too much stone, and too contemp....

Q

Photo

**lovely traditional elements I like; a little formal. reminds of Brook. wouldn't rule out something that started here.

Q

Photo

*interesting FP fam rm. missiony. -Contrast too intense, as we will have art on the wall & shelves.

Q

Photo

**FP Horizontal shape is appealing, and general configuration, with niches to side and cabinets at bottom.

Q

Photo

**niches and simplified traditional form of FP most interesting. A little pale. No glass over niches, is we do such a thing....frames may be too prominent.

Q

Photo

**elegant, Japanese inspired. feels light & fresh. Again, a fresh take on a traditional form, shelves to side.

Q

Photo

lovely traditional way. like the geometry of FP moulding, and also the colors. rather stone than brick.

Q

Photo

den, keep dark surround. -rather like the tiles and wood, doubt we will do that.

Q

Photo

**idea similar to what I am thinking, few shelves above cabinets. -proportions here feel very off

Q

Photo

*color and general new look for den FP wall *like the whole room. fp wall w/o tv is pretty, if a bit pedestrian....

Q

Photo

*cherry shelving & nice stone & mantle around gas log. dark background & shelving won't work so well for our things -mantle
