The headboards are built with individual panels that can be easily hung side by side onto the wall like a picture frame. They do not attach to a bed frame as the height can be adjusted for your convenience. The number of panels required depends on the size of the bed. Each panel measures 21.5 x 36 inches, weighs approximately 11 lbs and comes with D-ring metal hangers. Nails and hooks with installation instructions are included as well. Each hook can hold up to 20 lbs. We install two D-rings to each panel. This is a 40 lbs capacity for a 11 lbs panel. It can hold up more than twice its weight. The hooks and nails are specially design for drywall or similar materials. There is no need to find studs in the wall in order to hang it. The panels are solid wood that we hand distress to give them a rustic, antique or weathered look. Because the panels are made from distressed wood, there will be some natural variations like knots or splits. Some boards might be even slightly warped. These aren't defects, but natural imperfections which add to the charm of your one of kind headboard. William Johnson Architect: "Actually, it's not a bed frame. We built a wood cornice at 56" tall and installed bead-board paneling below. The jambs are 5/4 x 6, heads are 5/4 x 8 with pencil mold and 1 x 2 cap. The lamps are by the 'Three Hands Corp' - found them at TJ Maxx."

We attached vertical 2x4's to Ikea's bed frame with large screws, careful not to screw into drawer mechanism / lathe panels with 1 x 2 rails and wood lathe cross pieces that you get from a building supply store. We thinned white primer with water and dash of grey paint and coated the unsanded lathe panels. Then we attached the panels to the vertical 2x4's and that was that. The rest is all in the measuring."
