Ceiling
Big moulding surrounds sable ceiling. Particularly effective in narrow space. Mosaic ceramic floor doesn't hurt either.
It pretty much doesn't even matter what's going on in the room, due to the spectacular ceiling (incl. meso canopy of widely-spaced beams), surrounding woods, and glass tree boxes.

Gorgeous, expensive silver leaf ceiling with X trim structure. Could the layered leaf effect be replicated with paint technique?
Antique silver tin ceiling tiles looks great with dark wood floor. Cleaning up recycled tin would be a bear though. (Fake tiles are available, but in PVC. Yuck.)
simply add strips of moulding to ceiling (or walls) to create subtle graphic interest
