Black custom stain for trim. Good idea for coordinating varying quality woods. Careful with this, as most big box hardware store 'ebony' stains will look like that creepy, dull old rural law offices walnut stain, not luxe satiny ebony at all. Ideal Australian product recommendation: Feast Watson Black Japan Floor finish. Benjamin Moore "Bittersweet Chocolate' 2114-10 is suggested, but that looks dull brown. Maybe try a watered-down black paint with brown tinge. The walls are Benjamin Moore's "Carrington Beige" HC-93; use only with white accents. Pro recommends against pot lights for living areas--prefers lamps, sconces because they throw light on ceiling. 'Crown moulding can be found at Hyde Park or DecoCraft' (Brooklyn).
