Play with your paint. Creating texture with paint is a great way to add interest without the expense of textured wallpaper.

What I like about this wide barn door is the way it works with both openings on either side. Slide it to the left to close off the office; slide it to the right to close off the bathroom.

At the beginning I said this ideabook would consider even the bathroom door, and here is one. I like the contrast between the rough barn door, the galvanized track and the simple, light interior. The door works for the compact bathroom, since it doesn't have to swing into the space. THIS IDEA IN MY BEDROOM A WAY TO GET RID OF THE CLOSET DOOR AND THE ENSUITE DOOR

they're good for closets or as connections between the two areas. Cladding the pocket door panel with a mirror for such applications further justifies the choice. Is it possible to do a pocket door for my closet!!!!

Soothing in San Francisco. The soft taupe walls in this classic bedroom make for an especially inviting environment. Houzzers also noted the colors of the cozy bedding and the traditional trim.

An oversize graphic zebra rug in the master bedroom warms up the large space. "It was actually hard to get enough furniture in here," Curran says. Painted black consoles serve as bedside tables. Curran monogrammed the lamps with black felt. She wrapped the set of white lamp shades in black ribbon and did the same with the curtains. Wall paint: Sleepy Blue, Sherwin-Williams; zebra rug: South Shore Decorating

Hot Pink Made Cool Pink, gray and black make an unexpected and striking combination here. This super-stylish bedroom would be perfect in a warmer climate, as the cool neutrals help chill out the pinks.

Step 8: Make Your Bedroom the Getaway Zone Think about where you would love to go for a getaway together and try designing your bedroom with this in mind. By focusing on something other than yourselves, it will take the pressure off. Posh urban hotel? Tropical oasis? The world is your oyster!

The design of this master bedroom creates a cocoon-like environment. Chocolate brown walls paired with crisp white linens and warm wood tones create a comfortable, relaxing space.

When painted as an all-over color on the walls, black or a dark shade of gray can make a huge impact. The bedroom shown here is incredibly dramatic, but not at all as harsh as you would expect. When you contrast black with lighter colors it helps the space to feel more open giving you the feeling of positive and negative space. A flat paint will also give you a softer look than a paint with sheen.

Q

Tip 7: Overload your tactile senses with softness. In addition to making the room beautiful, be sure to give equal attention to comfort. No one can argue with plush bedding for an evening of canoodling and a soft rug to greet your feet at sunrise.

Q

Photo

Tip 6: Surround yourselves with sweet memories. Your bedroom is a haven for rest and a place for intimate moments. Choose a wall to feature your best photographs and places you've experienced together. The display is also a symbol of your connectedness and something your loved one can reflect on even while you are away.

Tip 4: Combine furniture styles. This metal-framed bed is tough as nails, but the bamboo-like motif softens the edge. The pair of nightstands are box-shaped like the bed, but feature a curved pattern on the doors. The combination of straight lines and curvy shapes represents both genders and also makes the furniture selection more interesting.

Q

Photo

Tip 1: Start with a neutral base. Ivory, gray, brown and navy are subtle and non-gender-specific. Charcoal gray walls and drapery in the same color grounds the space and centers your eyes on the focal point: a contemporary, leather-tufted upholstered bed that both parties can agree on.

f you are a fan of blue-gray and chocolate, consider putting taupe on your walls....nice contrasts

his floral wallpaper is dark, but paired with a bright yellow floral duvet it creates a dramatic look that feels right in any season. this would work in my bedroom

Make larger rooms feel cozy. For a large bedroom, add oversized furniture with extra details to help make the bedroom appear smaller. I like the chairs and ottoman
