I like that this island had the two ends closest to where you would need them. One in front of the dishwasher, and one in front of the stove. Also, during a party, people hang out near th kitchen and this counter is very long to accomodate 5 people. Also I like it because there is a lot of space to "spread out" cookbooks, bowls, mixer, etc.
