Hello. I'm interested in learning more about pool finishes. We're looking for the sweet spot: durability, smooth texture, and costs...(yeah, I know, aren't we all). Our Pool Contractor has suggested WetEdgeTech Luna Quartz - seems to be fairly smooth and a decent price point, but suffers in durability. What do you think of WetEdge Signature Matrix vs Prism vs Primera Stone (smooth and durable - kills the budget)? Should we ask about Hydrazzo Classico or Pacifico? Other products to consider?

We just had a pool installed and the plaster was sprayed very end of August. We started having sewage line backups the last few weeks and our plumbers said our line needed to be replaced (it was wavy but they didn't understand the catalyst that caused it to finally be a problem). Found out today during excavation of our sewage line that there are several places of 60-80% blockage caused from pool plaster. I started looking at videos from when the pool plaster was done and there's a hose with some sort of device (looks similar to a small sump pump) going from the deep end of our pool to our sewer clean out during the whole plastering process (over 4 hours). Is this common practice to drain excess water/plaster into a sewer line? We now have a huge expense plus destruction of our backyard and items in it in order to replace the line that's holding plaster that's causing sewer backup. Any information on the process would be appreciated.

haku84_zone9 Yes. Brush daily for 2 weeks twice per day. We plastered a pool a week ago with Diamond Brite Cool Blue. My contractor exposes the finish with water and brushing. It does remove some dust. Water was trucked in within an hour after application was completed. Start up Tec was added during the fill and the filtration system was started. By 2 pm, all was running on this 1,000 sf pool with an attached 10' spa. I personally tested the water the following morning and the the afternoon and made the proper adjustments. Going forward I tested twice per day and adjusted as needed recording my findings each time. I brushed the pool and after a few days vacuumed with a vinyl vac head. The homeowner brushed in between. The DE filter was cleaned out after 4 days. It's been a week, and all is balanced perfectly. 5 kids in this family love the pool! Be diligent about testing and adjusting in the first 3 days. It's paramount. I'm baffled so many PB's disappear after plastering. This is the icing on the cake and if it's screwed up, the PB gets a bad rap-as they should.
