We have a loropetalum bush in tthe back yard that has grown over 10 feet tall, is totally unfussy and gives gorgeous color in early spring. Perhaps these could be used in a hedge that separates us from the neighbors. I have also read that they are deer resistant.

I would like to have a path to the creek bridge. Outside our property lines, it should be just a mowed down path. Where the path crosses the property line, it would be nice to have a small gate and perhaps a wall that transitions into a green hedge to separate both from the neighbors and to ensure some privacy from the people who walk the creek trail. The view from the creek bridge to our property is currently completely exposed.

I think this may be a Texas mountain laurel. I love these trees and I would love to have some incorporated in the landscape, assuming they would be suitable for the soil on our lot.
