Duravit Happy Two Floor Standing Toilet

Q

Duravit Happy Two Floor Standing Toilet - $675.00 » During installation, most toilets are dropped in over two bolts and the bolts are trimmed and capped to keep the toilet in place. Many clean line toilets (which are great for easy cleaning) have separate mounting blocks, and the toilet is screwed into place from the two sides. This Duravit toilet has those great clean lines, but the same easy installation as a regular toilet.

Comfortable seating is very nice for giving yourself a pedicure or enjoying some sun and solitude. Tip: Upholstered seating fabric in bathrooms works best if it is mold resistant, so choose an outdoor fabric for these areas

The floors look like marble but are porcelain tile. She chose quartz in Arabescato Verde for the shower threshold to avoid tough-to-clean grout lines and because the subtle green in the veining picks up on the greens in the stained glass tiles.

*LOVE* Instead of a full wall between the tub and shower there are two large panes of glass. The tiled center piece provides room for the plumbing and fixtures.

In this Philadelphia home, the owner wrapped a wardrobe post with rope for a design-minded alternative to the carpet scratching post.

You may not immediately think a bedroom would work for these tight spaces, but as long as you're not prone to jumping on the bed, it could very well fit just fine. Just make sure to test sitting up in bed — if you suddenly bolt upright you don't want to risk getting a concussion!

Even with a low ceiling, an attic room can feel open and airy. White paint helps a lot. So do built-in cabinets and drawers for hiding clutter.

Velux Sun Tunnel Skylight

Q

Velux Sun Tunnel Skylight » Light from a skylight can be harsh, creating a spotlight effect and bringing as much heat into the house as light. Skylights also often require structural alterations to roof framing, and structural changes are never cheap. Instead of a skylight, consider a tubular daylighting device, shown here in cross section. Like Kalwall panels, the device fills a room with diffuse natural light. Though a 5,000- to 6,000-Kelvin bulb will supposedly reproduce natural light, there's nothing like the real thing. Even though the new bulbs out there use a lot less power than those Edison bulbs, there's no beating free light.

Find an old utility sink for the bathroom and convert a beat-up piece of furniture into a vanity. By continuing wood flooring into a powder room, it can feel as though a small room or closet was taken over after plumbing hit the scene.

This bathroom's layout would've made fitting in a single dedicated shower difficult, but the shower was designed to serve as a walk-through to the tub. This allows the homeowner to have both a bathtub and a shower without combining both into a small space or squishing a shower into one corner and the tub into the other.

Task Lighting This is the light by which you can best see yourself. “Proper task lighting at the mirror is important,” says lighting designer Randall Whitehead. He recommends using a pair of sconces mounted at eye level on either side of the mirror to provide shadowless illumination.

Paint a favorite inspiring quote or scripture on your stair risers, and make it a habit to contemplate the passage every time you use the stairs. Consider it a built-in reminder to slow down and experience the moment.
