Compared to photo described as fresh and welcoming, this one is too sterile.

The framed shelf on back splash of cooktop. The granite or stone on island used as the back splash too. But I think the counters should be a neutral granite so it's not overkill.

Interesting idea for pet space. Or think about space in a mudroom. Avoids big pet pillows and blankets on sofas like so many people have.
Added warmth to room with wood counters. Some kitchens with too much white and grey/marble can look sterile and cold. Maybe wall color a pale yellow.

Island serves as a casual table place to eat too.
