I'm not a proponent of too many open shelves (unless daily dusting is one of your hobbies), but the light backsplash, light gray lower cabs go well with the wood floor.[MM]: We love the lighter grey here, with the lighter floor. We'd need to have a bit of more contrast in counter maybe, as we wouldn't use wood grain as a repeated theme.
I like this palette of light glass backsplash, light cabs, dark countertops. Too bad we can't really see the floor clearly. [MM]: Through all the pictures you've chosen, we like where there is dark/light contrast. Here between cabinets and counter. In others between upper and lower cabinets. We like both. And, we like the glass tile...probably more the blues in other selections.
Your opinions on the smokey blue/white pairing? They did white above countertop and blue lowers. in the dining rm, it's reversed with white built-ins. This example might be a bit traditional/cottagey for you guys, but what do you think of the color pairing?[MM] yes we like the color pairing. Mark likes the dark upper over the fridge, giving some interest.
There is a good contrast between dark backsplash and white cabs. Offset by honey wood floor. Do you like this floor "color"? [MM]: the floor is too red for us, and backsplash too dark - see the dark corner!! :-)
Saturated blues are currently very popular for lower cabs. This one is paired with a whimsical backsplash (I would chose something more striking and less cute) [MM]: Mark likes the blue but feels it won't stand the test of time. Prolly not for us.
Here is a modern example of cabinets in a mid-/dark-tone, white backsplash and light tile floor in the kitchen area, paired with what looks like light wood (whether it's actual wood/tile/SPC) on the rest of the floor. [MM]: too monotone in this one; not excited about the dark uppers.
gray cabs and gray floor not much contrast despite light countertops and bright backsplash [MM]: we agree - too monotone.
