possible rooflines

so pretty! but i think this is so much moren arrow than our house that it's not really comparable.

Q

Photo

another example where the slope of the roof changes at the bottom to match that of the dormer. in this case, i would prefer for the flatter portion of the roof to be a little shorter, but in general i like the idea.

Q

Photo

what are we going to en dup putting underneath the more sloped part of the ceiling?

Q

Photo

this is okay.

Q

Photo

cute!

Q

Photo

i like how there is a roofline between the first and second floors;

Q

Photo

is the shed dormer on the right side as big as the one on the left? does it just look smaller because of the angle? i dislike the lack of symmetry. it looks lopsided.

Q

Photo

this is cute! but i don't think we want to go for the barn look....

Q

Photo

i'm worried about the bathroom being cramped - is it going to be cramped like this with the shed dormers, or will the ceiling be high all around?

Q

Photo

it's kind of cute when the bottom of the roof flattens out to match the slope of the shed dormer.

Q

Photo

i like this one...it's hard to say why i like this one and not the others. perhaps it's because the shed dormer is small in mass compared to the rest of the house? (even though it actually is a pretty large shed dormer)

Q

Photo

we like this one (simple roof line) but i'm not sure iif there is anything we can take from this for our house? one thing we've noticed is that we like houses where the first and second floor have the same footprint, but there is a roof between the first and second floors.

Q

Photo

there's something that i like about this one, but i can't place it. it just sort of looks natural...

Q

Photo

we think this house is beautful (note, the brown shingles and stone are lovely!). one thing we like more about these shed dormers is that they are small to mid-size, instead of one large dormer. also, the distance of the start of the dormer from the front of the house is nice - i dislike when the shed dormers start very close to the front of the roof.

Q

Photo

this roofline has what sort of looks like a shed dormer, but the top of the "dormer" is actually the peak of the roof - i kind of like it.

Q

Photo

interesting second floor roofline. i don't like the roundish part, but the 2 sloped, front-to-back peaks are nice.

Q

Photo
Photo

hmm, is there some kind of potential here?

Q

Photo

on the second floor, there are 2 front-facing things you could sort or call kickouts, but they have peaked roofs.

Q

Photo

these dormers are a bit larger than normal dormers - perhaps instead of one block of "kickout" we can have a few large dormers?

Q

Photo

this is interesting - a roof line from front-to-back just before a side-to-side roofline.

Q

Photo

i like the moderately steep roof here.

Q

Photo

this roof is slightly steeper than normal, right? but it still starts at ceiling height. that might be a good alternative.

Q

Photo

i realize looking at the picture that i don't like the way that kickouts on the left have a flat roof, however i like the dormers on the right that have a peaked roof.
