Again, an enclosed area surrounded by plants makes a good fire pit area. I don't like the gravel, although it would remove the need for sweeping ash and bits of timber and bark.

Useful to have a shelter around fire pit. Perhaps a cooking or warming platform half way up? ** Increases the feeling of cozy, increasing the heat spread towards those huddling towards it.
