With these elements: A two sided fireplace located between the dining area and study in a style like this one would be dramatic and cozy. I have envisioned a darker room with wood and stone for the study and believe the elements selected here lend themselves perfectly in that way. The Great room fireplace would be the grand full version of the two-sided. The great room being floor to ceiling would have a strong presence and styling the GR with a lighter color palette and little more formal feeling would definitely be perfect matched with the staircase pictured also. When I think of our design, I think of the GR being light in color with the warmth of wood, grounded stone, and large glass window perhaps with the black framing on the window/door work. The trick will be finding the balance and flow between the heavy and the light.
