Here is my similar size shower with 12 x 24 tile and an accent tile. Above and below the accent tiles the field tile is stacked vertically. Between the two strips of accent tile the field tile goes horizontally.

do honed on the floor. one option: alternate honed/polished in shower to create interest and tie the floor together. another option: do a 24" stripe in the center of the shower wall using polished, the remaining, honed. the juxtaposition of the two finishes is awesome, but you can also use a different tile size for the polished. doesnt have to be 12 x 24. good luck!

I am not a fan of square tiles in a small bath. I would use larger format in same ratio as shower tile. So if shower tiles are say 4 x 8; floor tiles I would go 12x24. I would also lay them across floor not front to back. Cross wise will help expand look of space since you have only 5' width. Another option might be to do hexagon shapes for floor! Just depends on style preference.

I have seen Matte on floors and shiny on walls all the time. But usually they are two different coordinating tiles. I also have purposely blended matte and polished of the same porcelain tile on the wall to create texture and design in a monochromatic color. That wouldn't really translate to marble but I don't see why you can't use one on wall and other on floor. Definitely want matte non-slip on he floor though. Good Luck!

They are independently produced so will never be of the same lot. They could potentially be made in totally different manufacturing facilities. In many cases, the polished finish will be a ceramic tile and the floor tile will be a porcelain. It is one of the difficulties in trying to use multiple finishes. We have gotten to the point that we order a test sample of every tile we intend to use in order to check for these type issues. Then we can change direction up front before ordering if needed.

We have been in the tile and stone business for over 47 years. In almost every situation the polished and matte finishes will have differing contrasts. The picture below shows the same stone with 8 different finishes we use to show how this effects the appearance of the stone. With Porcelain the fact the polish and matte are engineered and produced at different times alone will create this difference. In almost all cases the polished finish is going to take on a different color hue than a matte finish. Think back to your days when you were a kid and how a rock polisher changed the appearance of a stone. The more it was polished the more color and shine became apparent. The same things happens when polishing porcelain. This is one reason in our showroom we never allow someone to make a selection looking at just one piece of tile or stone to make sure the client sees a full 22 SF of material laid out to show the entire range. I would at least have a discussion with your vendor regarding the samples shown and what was received and evaluate the challenge from there
