This is the guidelines for side tables..not sure who told you never lower than arm but you can go lower it is actually more comfortable...hope this helps..did I understand you will be getting a new sofa to replace your small loveseat? If keeping the smaller furniture I woukd only do one end table and lamp..and a coffee table...
