Reply to: Hi Patty!! Zinc is a wonderful metal for countertops!! Many of our clients select Zinc because it offers this fantastic blueish/white tone and is less costly than other silver toned metals like Pewter. When Zinc ages naturally without a clear coat, it will oxidize and develop white patches/swathes. That's what Zinc wants to do, and it can give the counter an incredible chic country look. If you decide to leave the countertop raw, wonderful!! You have the ability to let it change or sand it back to a bright finish. Total versatility and control. :) If you do choose to coat the counter, we recommend wax for the same reason as it is easier to maintain than other coatings that could fail and be very difficult/impossible to repair. Reply to: Vikrant: Do a search here on Houzz "zinc counter tops" and you'll see lot's of people are doing it. Also look at rotometals.com. They have videos showing how to install. I have a coffee table from CB2 that is zinc, and I love the look. It looks like a good DIY project, although I'll take it to a sheet metal place to have it professionally bent.
