I have seen tin backsplashes melted behind gas stoves, so be cautious about where you are placing this. While I have never specified a kitchen tile backsplash only partially up on the wall, if you do this make sure to have it look intentional. Such as having it follow the height of where maybe the sink window cuts the backsplash off. Also use a trim piece; a pencil tile or some type of architectural tile to cap the top. Best of luck in your selections and installation.

Have you decided on something or already done it? We'd love to see! American Tin Ceilings has tin backsplash tiles that are designed for this kind of treatment (including behind a stove and pass code for fire/heat resistance) and use a J trim to give the finished look. We are doing this behind our stove in our remodel.
