Think art gallery. Fresh white walls are the classic choice, though textured grasscloth or a coat of rich color would work equally well. Go sleek and simple with all black and white pieces, or create a quirky gallery with eclectic, colorful artwork hung in a line, with some frames left intentionally empty. Finish the space with proper lighting. Try overhead track lighting and/or small wall-mounted lights to illuminate the art.

Curious about the cat mural? It's by artist Brent Wick, who's on a mission to make his cat, Larry (shown here) famous.

Bruk av mønstertape-------The Polaroid picture is back. Take advantage of the white border around every frame by simply posting the photos to the wall in a big geometric grouping. In this case, Japanese tape adds a touch of flair.

Fine Art Bird Photography Print Flock by Bomobob

Q

Fine Art Bird Photography Print Flock by Bomobob - $85.00 » This picture has a cool, retro-hipster vibe that's softened by the fluffy white clouds against the blue sky. I dig the peaceful feeling it invokes, and I'm pretty sure a baby would, too.

A large mosaic-like photograph of Matt and Kimberly greets you in the entryway. The couple had the image enlarged and cut into squares, and it served as their wedding guestbook. Friends and family left messages for Matt and Kimberly on the back of the photos, and each piece is numbered so it would be pinned to a specific spot in the grid. The sections of the photograph have been secured with nails to part of an old fence, and can easily be taken off to so that the couple can read the personal messages on the back.

Stick a branch through it. That sounds like a line from Portlandia, but small pieces can be hung from a branch. For something a bit precious, use hooks or clips instead of stabbing it through the bud.

For more structure, use a wire structure and clothespins. This serves as an ever-evolving inspiration board. The continuity of the clips and the black-and-white photography make it all work together.

Use a clothesline and clothespins. Here three lines fill the wall with the alphabet, interspersed with a few pictures in lieu of the letter cards. It's a perfect solution for a nursery.

Use a window pane. Of this window full of art, blogger Jillian Woods says "I just googled for old cowboy photos, printed them, and stuck them on the panes with tape. Easy art." Indeed; I especially love the way the blue wall shows through in the background.
