Ugly house - grey rough cast render

our house has grey roughcast render on the exterior. It’s a pretty ugly house and probably always will be but I’d like to improve the look a little. My questions are...
*what would be the rough cost of re moving and putting on a new type of render/exterior ( it’s a three bed semi and I realise anything would just be ball park figure but a rough estimate would let me know if it’s worth it or not)?
* how successful is painting roughcasting? I don’t mind painting if there is something we can paint the won’t need redoing every couple of years but wouldn’t bother if I’m setting myself up for a task we won’t keep up with?
any help or advice would be great.
