replacement for 150W bulb

I have a couple of torchiere lamps that take 2 150W bulbs each. The bulbs are of this type:

Previously Philips used to make these bulbs and they worked really well. I had stockpiled them several years ago when my local EXPO by HomeDepot (same place that I had bought the lamp) went out of business. Now, I'm at the end of my stockpile with only one remaining. I did buy a few of the "no name" brand ones from Amazon. They worked really, really badly. I observed variance in the lighting moment to moment which was very hard to deal with.

So what are my options?

Does something like an LED bulb exist in this size/shape/eq light output?

What type of a bulb is this, and would that work?

    Any LED bulb that can put out the equivalent of 150W is going to be very big in size.

    It's going to be harder to find a 150W equivalent, but they do exist. This is the least expensive one:

    The reality is that all the major lighting manufacturers discontinued the halogen BT-shaped bulbs. I agree, these worked really really well.

    The new configuration that is the best equivalent to these is the T10-shape. But these do not work quite as well (in my opinion) and are substantially more expensive.

    What you need to realize is there was a sort of "conspiracy" amongst the three large lighting manufacturers and they got legislation passed (world-wide) to ban many of the traditional light bulb products in favor of more expensive specialty and "higher-efficiency" ones.

    And I also agree with you that the "no name" brands of BT halogen bulbs that you still may be able to find (even though they are no longer manufactured) noticeably do not put out quite as much light or last as long as the Philips brand name ones.

    Most people do not notice these subtle trends in the lighting industry, but the reality is the consumer has been screwed over.

      Yesterday, I came across this lamp at a local store. Claims a 40W LED lamp puts out the light equivalent of a 300 W incandescent.

      You are paying for the elegant design ... The torchiere is most likely using high power led emitters with custom heat sinks.

      High power & efficiency led emitters cost significantly more and do require heat sinks to ensure optimal performance.

      Unfortunately, more effort is spent on polished metal for such lamps.


      As for 150W equivalent Feit bulbs, they can be obtained at ACE hardware

      BTW, isn't this true of all industries? Look at, e.g., appliances. All need to use less water and energy. As a result all have weirdnesses. To begin with, they aren't engineered to last as long. With refrigerators, we have high pitched noises because the compressor motors needs to spin at high speeds. No more warm rinses in washing machines. Cold rinses don't remove detergent, so we run multiple cold rinse cycles. Machines don't clean clothes well with the little water they are designed to use, so we wash multiple times. It takes 3x the time to take a shower and it provides 3x the frustration and 1/3 the satisfaction of a shower of yore. Not to mention the excessive chemicals in the water for which we need a filter. I could go on for hours talking about furniture, clothing, cars, ...

      Thanks David! $43! That's a significant amount for some folks, for example seniors on a fixed budget, etc. Hopefully those prices will come down.

      This might be another option for you...warm color temperature, and three-way dimming. It is also available in three lumen packages up to 2200 lumens which is somewhat equivalent to a 150W incandescent. It also a great price point!

      I don't think this will fit my lamp because it is too big (in girth).
