ms1zebra, Thanks for your comment and interest! River-rock finished aluminum is a great surface. Its unfinished textured top allows for increased durability for work surfaces. It is resilient with heat, stains, oxidation, but will show signs of use if heavy objects are dropped on or slid across it or cutting is done on it with steel knives. Perhaps when folks think of aluminum as a material, they think about unfinished flat aluminum sheet, which is not a good or even available choice for kitchen surfaces. You need some kitchen accessories kettle etc that tie in with the red and also some artwork. The red you have chosen looks on my monitor to be a cool red, perhaps a bit of a warmer shade would help. i would also extend the dining area curtains down to the floor, they will cosy up the space, as would a statement rug to give a bit more life to the room. If your living room is green then it may be nice to have some token green of the same shade, somewhere in the kitchen, a plant or some artwork, and add a bit of the kitchen red to your living room, so that there is some continuity of colour in your home, as opposed to having two separate colour boxes and never the twain shall meet..

Hello jkhmcd, Colours can largely depend on what you are buying appliance wise.. I always go for and suggest robust chrome.. Free standing chrome range, with Dualit toaster, it's the most beautiful toaster ever and an iconic piece of design.. and complimentary kettle .. Dualit do a nice one too called architect.. I have done a lot of consulting on what brands and best design so the dualit is an all time favourite!! I don't know what the spout is like on the kettle and you'd want to go and try it out maybe but there's a couple of my must haves.. Chrome for me makes a kitchen.. I'd move on to a chrome kitchenaid if baking is enjoyed.. For me it's on a big long list! One thing I do think is a no no... Coffee, tea and sugar canisters.. Personally I hate to see these things especially on the worktop.. .. I keep tea in the cupboard and coffee in the fridge.. Have things on show that are more functional, like a collection of wooden chopping boards, that sort of thing.. Minimal and sleek worktop keeps the kitchen looking really stylish.. Grey is a lovely colour, works with chrome and you could maybe team it with creams or darker colours if you like dark.. It's hard to suggest things here as I don't know if grey is on walls or cupboards or floor.. If you could say what is what, it's easier to advise.. For now thought... think Chrome!.. : ) )
