Rock outcroppings make a striking background for new lounge areas in this compact Los Angeles hillside garden. Working with the attributes of the site, we added native plants to drape over the stone, and converted hollowed stone planters into a firepit and water feature. New built-in seating and a cozy hammock complete the relaxing space, and dramatic lighting makes it come alive at night.

The Japanese Garden
This zen garden is located on a central courtyard that connects the kitchen of the house, with the living - dining area and main access hall.
As you can see it is glazed on several sides, each view after concluded the work is slightly different. This time, only put a lamp in Japanese style to give the night lighting environment.
This is a sample of a Zen garden that carries an implicit minimalist in design. The conditions in the house are basically clear and minimalist tones, it is for that reason that it was decided to this design.
Few elements, well distributed, with a mix of different textures, from coarse gravel and dark gray color, contrasting with the white gravel and raked; allows us to balance the wabi sabi and the scene.

This outdoor shower is accentuated by a garden bench and screening wall. The bench and wall are covered with a variety of tiles and framed by hibiscus, esperanza, and lantana plants. A flagstone walkway leads you to this garden oasis.
Planet Horticulture
Hilltop home with sweeping views of San Francisco Bay. Open views surrounded by bold foliage dominated plantings. Planter beds with collection of dramatic succulents that don't block windows.
Ecology Artisans
Close up of Dymondia margaretae ("Silver Carpet"), growing in flagstone gaps. We set the stones at roughly 2.5" apart and added an amended soil to the final 2" between the stones. Plugs were installed on roughly 5-6" centers. 98% filled in after 5 months. Irrigated with Hunter MP rotators at 30 minutes every 10 days. We're now backing it off since they've become established.
