River side house, Ireland

The brief was to create an interior that would be modern and clutter free. To maximise light and space in the interior spaces and in this way open the property to its surrounding unique landscape.

Nestled beside a fast running river, this project was a major revamp of a tired mill house into an inspirational home. From the first visit to the site, we were overawed by the natural beauty of the area. Mounds of earth were cleared away around the house to expose magnificent volcanic rock....

The large bevelled mirror was chosen to reflect the natural landscape. A bi fold door was selected to open the space to the outside. The wide custom made bed head is designed so that the two single beds can be made into a double bed or separated into two single beds. Art work was used to decorate the spaces. A feature pendant light is hung in the corner for a bit of fun! The bed throws are custom made in rich velvets and suede....

This stunning pendant light by Castellani and Smith was hung in the corner as a feature piece. It is made of resin which has a delicate transparency and creates beautiful shadows on the walls in evening time. Photography by Sean & Yvette.

Riverside House
Every "nook and cranny" was used for storage. A wide window opens outwards to enjoy the sound and movement of the river. The wrought iron balcony, which opens from the first floor living area was sourced from a local Ironmonger. Photography by Sean & Yvette.

We painted the very low wooden ceiling in a shade of white to create the illusion of height and chose mirrored furniture to create interesting reflections and further add to the feeling of space. Photography by Sean and Yvette.
