Tennis clubhouse

Tennis Clubhouse, Dulwich is a new build for the Camber Lawn Tennis Club, designed to connect to its parkland setting. Conceptually the external wall cladding is treated as a hard shell, behind which a softer building is partially revealed through openings and indentations in the square plan form.
Internally, a wide corridor creates a circulation axis through into a lounge. A large section of the south elevation glazing slides open to provide access to the grassed area which is used during warmer months for outside events and during tournaments.
External walls are clad in compressed natural basalt boards acting as a rain screen. Window and door openings and the deeply recessed entrance are the breaks in this dark shell and are lined in pale metallic cladding boards. Roller and wall shutters secure the building when not occupied
