Dressed to Impress '25

Ornately detailed, beautifully balanced, and meticulously crafted, “Dressed To Impress ‘25” wears traditional charm over intelligent modern design to create the quintessential contemporary Irish kitchen.

Pinned beaded shaker doors sit within in-frame cabinetry, framed by rounded gables and crowned with a shadow gap between the cornice and ceiling. A wood-grain finish in White Elephant paint is complemented by antique brass handles, knobs, and tapware. This softness is set against the dark boreal wood carcass and the richly detailed island, finished in lacquered bronze. Calacatta Glow quartz, shaped with a classic ogee edge, reintroduces lightness through a 30mm worktop, upstand, and backsplash, subtly lifting the overall palette.

Within the L-shaped layout, cabinetry follows traditional principals of harmonious proportion and visual balance. Doors and drawers are arranged in symmetry across both walls and the island. Unit depths are thoughtfully stepped from tall, dresser to wall, which pleasingly frames the large canopy hood and accentuates the sweeping curves of its chimney and elongated corbels. Glazed cabinet doors are used to punctuate the ends of tall units, adding visual interest.

Framed double doors open inward to reveal a generous pantry, fitted floor-to-ceiling with open shelving, with a wraparound worktop providing practical space for countertop appliances.

The substantial dark oak island is richly adorned with plinth skirting, beaded gables, decorative posts, and a picture rail. The front comfortably seats four, while the reverse houses an undermounted sink, pull-out bins, and an integrated dishwasher, complemented by additional soft-close drawer storage.

A separate bank of tall cabinets offers refined storage for fine spirits and glasses. Stepped shelving and integrated wine racking present upright bottles and delicate glassware both practically and attractively, and when the doors are left open creates a striking focal point for the room.

Ultimately, the project affirms that when proportion, craftsmanship, and materiality are handled with care, tradition does not date. Designed not only to impress today, this kitchen is assured to remain elegant and relevant for decades to come.
