New Build Home - North Bank Road

Located in a valley of the North Cascades Mountain range in Washington State, this simple contemporary house has to stand harsh climatic conditions and negotiate a dense forest canopy.

In order to deal with heavy snowfalls in winter and intense sunshine in the summer months, the exterior is rugged and simple with considered detailing.

The interior is a series of interlocking volumes which bring top light from above the forest canopy. The material palette was carefully considered and limited to three components - Oak, basalt and metal - to play a delicate balance against the white walls which reflect the light from above.
