Curtain Brackets on Wooden Plinth that’s not big Enough

Hi everyone,

Recently moved and looking to put up curtain poles but nearly every window has a wooden batten above the window.

This wouldn’t normally be an issue but where I’d like to attach the brackets would be very close to the top/bottom of the wooden plinth. Therefore imo not providing adequate fixation. See photo.

Don’t particularly want to remove the plinths as they are the same colour as the walls and I don’t have the paint to touch up.

The plinths are 45mm.

Thoughts on how to put the brackets up?

Is there any alternative shorter bracket available? Could you add another piece of timber to deepen the baten?

The brackets are the same for all three curtain role sets. I could add another piece of timber and try to find similar paint.

I'd remove the batons. I think they were traditionally used to fit a curtain track to. Very old fashioned IMO.

Or fix the brackets above the batten. That's what I've done until the room gets redecorated.
