Energy Efficient Rural House
This project fell under Fingal County Council’s Rural Housing Policy that restricts the people who qualify for a new house in the countryside.
It can be challenging to comply with this policy & this proposal was refused twice, persistence & a comprehensive & detailed planning application meant planning permission was granted at the third time of asking. Moral of the story - never give up!
Our client required a low maintenance, highly efficient house. We used timber frame construction with high levels of insulation, good air tightness, air source heat pump for space & water heating & a Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR) system. This resulted in a A2 energy rating with low energy bills.
