Basement Transformation

Working with a family that has traveled, and lived in, different areas of the world we created a unique, eclectic space for them surrounded by their favorite things. We took the raw space of the basement, and given a long list of usage requirements, we designed a layout to include a home gym, seasonal storage, small workshop, guest bedroom, full bathroom, custom album storage, specific light levels, ping pong area, and even a kitchenette/bar area.

Basement Transformation

We had to somehow cleverly hide the electrical panels on the left, and incorporate this into our kitchenette area.

The client's copper collection was the springboard for the hammered copper sink. Notice the tape lighting placed in a channel on the underside of the floating shelving. Slate mosaic tile gives the wall texture and fuses our color palette together.

Custom designed cabinetry, painted the same color as the walls, seamlessly works in the space and allows the owners treasures to be displayed.

By turning the original staircase, we allowed for this wonderful area to create a music lovers dream space. Custom designed album/CD storage houses the owner's massive collection perfectly. Cubby for the Sonos system, and a custom height for the turntable, allows for a perfect audio setup.

Guest bedroom in the best location to take advantage of natural sun light, with walk out french doors. The reclaimed wood barn door was custom made, with an old, rusted ladle cleverly converted into the door handle.

Jack and Jill bathroom allows for pocket doors on both ends so this can be used either as a full bath for guests, or simply as a powder room for casual entertaining.

Finding clever ways to display the owner's beautiful things was a fun challenge, like this beautifully lit niche with floating glass shelves.
