Yikes! Not very good finishing on this plastering job. I had similar issues with the plastering on my extension particularly on a steel beam. I asked them to redo it. The builder ended up hiring my recommended plasterer and they paid for the full redo. I would definitely ask for it to be made good. This level of highly visible plastering not good enough.
It looks poor to me. I think the difficulty might be that the areas are relatively small. I have a feeling that Plasterers prefer larger areas if that make sense.
Your sentence " someone we had to find at short notice but had good reviews" makes me nervous, screams red flag to me.
I would be trying to find a good plasterer who can put this right.
