Markay, yes Lakeside is the one. I just sent them an email asking when their earliest shipping date is for bare roots in warm zones :-D

Lakeview replied, and said that they'd send roses to me in their first shipments at the end of February. So pretty much exactly the same as Palatine (after they discontinued fall shipping). Given weather variations, sometimes I've gotten Palatine in mid-Feb, and sometimes first week of March. Lakeview was extremely quick in replying and very friendly :-D

Kentucky, I got a Garden Delight in Palatine's last shipment, and it has been pretty great. Unfortunately, it's still in a 5 gallon pot, so hasn't had the opportunity to really strut its stuff. But it's in the line-up to go to its permanent home soon, if we could ever stop having heat waves here in So. Calif :-D

Frostweed, Verbesina virginica. It gets it's name because it's lower stems ooze sap that forms ice sculptures in winter.

Some Frostweed ice sculptures.

Crooked Stem Aster, Symphyotrichum prenanthoides and Cliff Goldenrod, Solidago drummondii

A new plant species for me Hasteola sauveolens.

Fall colors of Tall Verbena, Verbena hastata

A surprise vollunteer that's a blast from the past, Abelmoschus manihot. It has beautiful Hibiscus-like, large, creamy yellow flowers with marroon throats. The seeds stsy viable for decades, waiting to get turned over onto the soil surface. I hope ir blooms and makes seeds asap.

Apios priceana is extremely rare. A native perennial bean that would be good to eat if it wasn't threatened. I thought I needed an unrelated mate to pollinate it, but luckilly it wasn't needed.

Short's Aster, Symphyotrichum shortii. Likes shade and woodland edges.

Elm Leaved Goldenrod, Solidago ulmifolia. One of the best goldenrods for shade.

Devil's Walkingstick, Aralia spinosa

White Snakeroot, Ageratina altissima. It's very common en masse everywhere locally. I let some vollunteers bloom for the pollinators and then pull them all before they go to seed.

Heath Aster, Symphyotrichum ericoides. The foliage really does resemble Heath. There's a cultivar of Heath Aster "Pink Star" that is outstanding, and I must have it.

Symphyotrichum ericoides "Pink Star". Not mine but I wish.

Sawtooth Sunflower, Helianthus grosserratus. It can grow to 15 feet and sometimes higher.

An aster perhaps Symphyotrichum pilosum var pringlei or Symphyotrichum racemosum?

haha! I removed these pots today. I had them here temporarily until the siders get here.

Frost warning tonight and they are going down hill steadily.

Thunbergia still looking good but we'll see after tonight. 35d predicted.

We have a local Costco that actually has a big greenhouse nursery. One year they were loaded with flats of Ping Lim roses. True Serenity , the hot pink, was probably my favorite for great fragrance, form, petal count.

I must have about 40 dahlias planted out in the garden,

That is incredible Dee. So you were able to overwinter (as dry tubers) 40 dahlias? Impressive I say.

Those are so pretty @Markay MD-Zone 7B...actually gorgeous.

Given that they are in bloom from April implies the plants overwintered (rather than from self seeding)?

Last night I planted Clematis durandii behind the Peony Sorbet I has put in the day before.

In the previous day in another redo bed I also planted a Clematis Multi Blue that I moved from too much shade. Then added a Peony Catherine Fontaine along with 3 each of Pycnanthemum virginianum, Stachys o. Rosea, Achillea p. The Pearl, Penstemon hirsutus & Linum perenne. So happy to have this done.

A whole bunch of native perennial plugs plus 6 native small-ish shrubs (2 Kalmia latifolia, 2 Ceanothus americanus and 2 Itea virginica). It is all for the front yard. Can't wait for spring even though the drought has been hard on some of the shrubs despite watering.

I would like to report Heirloom Roses has already sent me a confirmation for the replacement of all 5 roses. I am glad they did. I have been a loyal customer ordering roses every single year for 10 years and I feel like they did the right thing when I needed them. I will not be purchasing any other roses with this new method. I normally reuse my plastic pots anyway.
