Thanks for sharing all these inspirational storage ideas. I don't like the idea of storing outerwear, homework, office supplies, cleaning supplies, or pet-related items in a kitchen though. Keep the kitchen cleaner and expand storage solutions to other parts of the house that aren't involved with food. I love a house with planned storage.

These are genius ideas!
My only reservation is the countertop produce storage. Light exposure triggers sprouting in poatoes and onions, and also toxic solanine (the green color) production in potatoes. These should always be stored in dark, cool places. Other produce, such as apples and oranges will stay fresher if stored in the fridge. A few produce items are better left at room tempurature.

I added automatic lights to my corner lazy susan cabinets and voila no more dark scary cabinets. I wish this feature could be shared with those who hate lazy susans! Its a game changer.

If you're going to paint it, I'd go with a blue a few shades darker than your siding.

IMO a large piece of art maybe even a cow or horse or beautiful field of wildflowers to keep that same feel to the space . For sure not wood pannelling like the one shown which is way too modern for your space

Brown walls in any bathroom does not look decadent, to me.

@freedomplace1 You got me thinking. So i plugged my image into Chat and got this. Youre absolutely right. This AI image looks so mich more like what i see all over pinterest!!
My designer knew i wanted to avoid that white-with-wood look, so she chose a color i lurve, even if it seems I’m in the minority. I feel better just knowing that a paint job would make the kitchen have a broader appeal!
and yes, @dancethismessaround, thank you for the reminder to be grateful. Gratitude is always the answer.

Start by removing the wall paper. Also show what you currently have, as we assume these to be the listing photos....... take a CURRENT picture.

What table was being sold with these chairs? You love the chairs so see if you can find a table that works. You can select for a farmhouse table 28-33" on Wayfair. Or, try to add blocks to the top of the pedestals under the table. I learned many years ago it's best to buy table and chairs together for this reason.

I would just sell them, if possible, hopefully you can recoup some $. I don’t think they look good with your table even if they were sized right.

I would not attempt cutting the apron down on this vintage table.

I’d order different uppers for each side of the hood - more money but more storage and cleaner lines (cleans up the cab trim transition to the glass cab which i would def want), then reuse the current ones in a laundry, basement , garage etc,,

The crown is not the biggest problem here. Let go of that and look at the big picture.
This is a huge, expensive kitchen, but it's not well planned ... few drawers, fridge in the corner, barrier island. I suspect they skimped on details like full-length drawers and full-drawer extensions.
I'm wondering if you had "fear of things being too plain", and it went the other direction. Some professional should've advised you better.
The snaggletooth uppers would look 100% better if you extend them all evenly to the ceiling ... it'll be a consistent, calmer look. Since they're already built, the cheapest way to do this is to add additional small-box cabinets to the top of what you have ... you'd have to have the glass-front cabinet cut down slightly. Here are examples of stacked cabinets:

This last one's "in progress" -- no paint and no crown -- but it shows clearly what's being added:

Which backsplash tile will be replaced with bead board? Do you mean in the actual kitchen?
Personally, I think it looks "odd" to have the bench with a bead board looking back up against a wall with bead board - especially due to the height of the bead board on the wall just barely being taller than the back of the bench unit. I think it would look nicer if the back of the bench was removed. It would solve the odd height issue + the bench would look more like a built-in vs. freestanding.
I really can't suggest any chair options - you haven't really shown what your style is = post a photo of your kitchen (at least - I would show a photo of you dining room also).

Real people have kleenex by the bedside, a small trash bin, perhaps a CPAP, extra pillows, a book and reading lamp, and so on.

It would be nice to see more photos with window treatments included as I believe those are crucial to helping one sleep too, especially if blackout shades are involved because they help block out light. Also, what you do before going to sleep can make a difference too. Please include more thoughts on window treatments for future posts. I think they may be beneficial :).

a professional painter can easily do the painting. A friend just had her kitchen cabinets, etc. repainted, it took 2 days. in Denver. once they removed the cabinet doors and hung the plastic
around the room.
I would paint in a heart beat, especially since you already have some painted already.
But, not stark white, a soft creamy white like BM White Dove. I'd paint the walls, ceiling and built ins and trims, crowns, etc. the same color different sheens. Ceiling flat, walls egg shell and the trims Satin. Leaving the features like you show in your AI image. Leave the brick surround natural too. The floor will look beautiful with the contrast.
Painting the crown will brighten up the space and make the room feel larger.
Lovely space, we all need a refresh in our lives.

I'm a professional designer, so here's some "official" advice. ;-)
Go for it. This house is screaming,"Portico please!" Adding a Chippendale style railing around the portico would look fantastic as well. My other thought is to follow the curve of the brick under the portico, with a straight roof.
It will look so beautiful that you'll want to redo your front walk. Exposed aggregate would be beautiful.
Now is the time to hire a contractor or architect. You'll want to finish the project before it gets too cold. Even in NC.
I'll be driving by on my way to Sunset Beach next week. It's the best kept beach secret. Let us all know how your new portico looks!

IMO if theses are the only choices the one on the far left for flooring and paint color will need much more info about counters , natural light etc. Paint IMO one of the last choices to make along with pulls and knobs
I never said dark; I said darker. A medium toned brown would be fine.
